Guitar tuning guide
DADGAD Guitar Tuning
DADGAD creates an open suspended D sound rather than a fixed major or minor chord. Its drones are popular in Celtic, folk, acoustic and ambient guitar.

Why use this tuning
Let the open D and A strings ring while moving simple shapes on the middle strings. The tuning rewards modal melodies and pedal tones.
Retune safely
Change one string at a time, approach the target pitch gradually and recheck every string after the neck settles. Large tuning changes may require a different string gauge and a professional setup.
